Youth Music Program

The South Perth Lions Youth Jazz Band provides an opportunity for young people aged 8 to 25 to learn how to play a musical instrument and perform jazz. The Youth Band performs several times a year at festivals, dances, competitions and other community events.

Tuition from 2022 is by jazz musician and educator Caitlin Burke, who performs in several Perth bands and wind ensembles and also conducts the Leeming Big Band (for adults). Caitlin has a Bachelor’s degree in Music, has studied jazz in the USA, and has been teaching music to young people for 10 years. The Youth Music Program is very successful, with some 25 students enrolled currently.
